Geek Alert - February Loot Crate

It's the end of the month which must mean that it's Loot Crate time and that means a monthly dose of weird and wonderful geeky stuff, or a second dose because of my My Geek Box subscription, but I have been looking forward to Loot Crate arriving.

This month's Loot Crate theme is Play with games of all kinds - including toys, card games, and board games -  incorporated into this month's crate.  I was really excited about this month's crate because I knew that there was going to be a vinyl figure in it from KidRobot and Loot Crate exclusive of a card game - Superfight.

As promised, Loot Crate included their own variation of a board game in this month's crate - the crate its self opened up to be the game.  Inside the magazine, there are counters and tokens for the game so that you and others can compete to pack a Loot Crate the quickest.  You can use normal dice for it but there were dice provided which I will talk about later because they're a game by themselves.  The level of imagination remains high this month and I hope they keep it up as they have for months now plus it's fun for the whole family.

I love vinyl figures and the KidRobot figure that came in this month's crate is wonderful because it allows everyone to let their imaginations run wild, something everyone needs to do every so often.  As I've said before, I am not an artist really so I may let my sister loose on this because she could probably make something better than me so if/when she does something with it, I will post it on here or on Instagram.

Books are one of the great loves of my life because they let you go into a world that isn't your own even if it's just for a little while and I am ecstatic that a book was included in this month's Loot Crate as it makes this crate stand out against the others.  I have never heard of this book until recently but I am intrigued by the blurb as it seems to be a book I would enjoy because of the genre it falls under; I like it when I get books from other sources because they tend to be something I wouldn't have thought of reading so, thank you Loot Crate.

This is one of the weirdest things I have ever been given in Loot Crate or My Geek Box, a Hexbug, and I'm not really sure on it because it freak me out a little when you switch it on and it scuttles off like a convincing bug.  However, I think it's a great item because of the colour and appearance as an ornament when it's not switched on and now lives on my shelves looking like a pet bug.  I do feel that if I showed this to my sister or a younger child, it would disappear from my shelf.

I was so excited when I found out there was going to an exclusive edition of Superfight in this month's Loot Crate because I have wanted the original version of it but I haven't been able to afford it really because it's $35 and that's without import charges which is a shame.  The concept of the game is that each player pick a character (a derby girl for example) and a power/strength (can only be killed by a stake through the heart for example) out of the main part of the deck and then a scenario and location from the rest of the deck then you argue who would win the fight in the end.  This seems like a fun party game from my point of view so I am thrilled that this was included because then I can have a mini version of Superfight in the future.

Waka-waka-waka-waka; Pac-Man is an iconic game as well as addictive which is one of the reasons I don't play it very often because I could end up playing it for hours but I do think it's a great game.  I love this poster and the quality is wonderful; the design is fantastic - a deconstructed video cartridge - as it shows a lot of imagination and will be a great poster to put in a study or something.

No board game would be any good without dice or something like that and Loot Crate provided these Rock, Paper, Scissors dice that go with the Loot Crate board game and also doubled as a game by itself.  While simple, I think these are great because they could keep anyone distracted for at least a little while - it kept me and my mum occupied for ten minutes at least, playing rock, paper, scissors.

Firefly has become an online role-playing game where participants build up their own crew and explore the Verse like Mal and co., becoming part of the universe that the characters live in.  While I haven't played it yet, though I am considering it, the code is a great exclusive for Loot Crate members that do play it and the picture on the other side of the code as seen below - there are four different ones - are great pieces of artwork and I love the one I got because it's "Vera", Jayne's favourite gun who is one of my favourite characters.

I love the variety of the designs on the Loot Crate badges which are taken from the magazine that comes with the crate as they encapsulate the theme perfectly.  Once again, this badge has joined my other Loot Crate badges on my backpack which is getting covered quickly.

I love everything about this month's Loot Crate from the crate its self to the badge and all the things in between and there is so much variety in this month's crate that there is something for everyone in my opinion unless they're really picky.
