It's a new year and with that comes new things. January's My Geek Box arrived today which I was excited about, as I tend to be because of my puppy-like personality.
This month's theme for My Geek Box is Justice which could mean anything when it comes to geek culture as it's a common theme in a lot of different films, TV shows, and comic books and I've said this before, you have no idea what will arrive in the box.
This month's T-shirt was a very simple one with a badge on the chest similar to that of Judge Dredd's which is great against the black T-shirt itself and Judge Dreed is a character drenched in justice so it is a wonderful addition to this month's box. However, I've already got a lot of black T-shirts from My Geek Box and Loot Crate combined as well as some that I have bought so my sister stole this one seen as she likes geek culture too.
I always love it when I get a Funko Pop in My Geek Box or Loot Crate because I like expanding my collection and it brings a bit more variety to it as they tend to be a character I wouldn't pick to buy myself but wouldn't mind having and this month, it's the same as we all got Robocop. I've seen the original Robocop but that was years ago and have yet to see the new one so I may watch them both to become reacquainted with this character but overall, very pleased with this new Pop and he is now sat with the rest of my expanding collection.
New comics were one of the main reasons behind my decision to get Loot Crate and My Geek Box initially because there are one of my interests, particularly DC and Marvel ones as I adore superheroes and their foes because they have a wealth of history that they can use in this day and age. Plus, you can't have a Justice My Geek Box without the Justice League in some form because it would have been disappointing otherwise and I can't wait to read this comic book for something new to read.
I'm not much of an energy drink lover, I just drink copious amounts of tea and coffee so I wasn't too fussed on this part of this month's box, a Superman energy drink, but I do know someone who will appreciate it, my supervisor at work who drinks more energy drinks than I drink cups of coffee. This was another reason why I chose to get My Geek Box and Loot Crate, I thought I could get some unusual stuff that I could give as presents or as random surprises.
The classic Batman logo is distinctive with the bright yellow as it catches your eye immediately and makes the bat pop and having it as a keyring is excellent because it will stand out amongst the rubbish in my bags so I can find my keys easier. Batman is one of my favourite DC characters, other than the Green Arrow and the Red Hood, so I am glad that the Justice My Geek Box contained something to do with him specifically as he is one of the first characters that comes to mind when someone says justice to me.
From time to time, My Geek Box decide to include their own magazine which is full of great information, from reviews to interviews and it's an interesting read and great addition to the box because it is something you can't buy in the shops. Plus, the information is engaging and this time has kept me occupied for most of the day.
While I liked most of the items in this month's My Geek Box, it could have been better to have at least Marvel item in it because most of their superheroes are seeking justice in some form. Now that I have a new Pop for my collection, I am pleased with this month's box because I definitely wouldn't have thought to buy any of these things myself yet they are perfect because I am able to share parts of this month's box with others too. Overall, good haul, can't wait to see what Loot Crate have in store.
Next month's My Geek Box theme is Sidekicks!
